Assistant Professor and Director of Clinical Education Angela Kennedy, SLPD, CCC-SLP, received the Award of Honors at the Texas Speech-Language-Hearing Association annual convention, which was held in San Antonio in May.

The Award of Honors is awarded to speech-language pathologists and audiologists who have been members of TSHA for at least 10 years, while contributing significantly to TSHA and demonstrating outstanding leadership and professional excellence. 

Faculty and students participated in three podium presentations. Kennedy served as primary presenter on “Improving Outcomes and Cultural Responsiveness by Addressing the Social Determinants of Health: A Hands-on Approach,” with co-presenters Assistant Professor/Clinical Michelle Parish, SLPD, CCC-SLP, Casey Taliancich-Klinger, PhD, CCC-SLP, and graduate students Diana Perez and Alexa Ybarra. Kennedy also was primary presenter for “Crafting Functional Goals to Improve Patient Outcomes in Pediatric Motor Speech Disorders” and a co-presenter for “The Power of Giving and Receiving Feedback to Strengthen Clinical Expertise.”

“It was a great year for ����͵��91 ��ҹ���� at the TSHA convention,” Kennedy said.

Also at the convention:

• Seventeen graduate students volunteered at the Texas Speech-Language-Hearing Foundation breakfast.
• A team of four graduate students, including Devin Lukachik, Skylar DeLaGarza, Valerie Casarez and Gabriella Mitchell, competed against teams from other Texas universities in the Praxis Bowl.
• Faculty and student volunteers participated in university-sponsored events such as meet-and-greet and tailgate games.
