Faculty and students from the Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology program in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders attended the Texas Speech-Language-Hearing Association Convention in Fort Worth in February.

The program����͵��91 ��ҹ���� team of three second-year students competed in a multi-round Praxis Bowl competition among Texas universities. Teams answered timed practice questions for the Praxis Examination in Speech-Language Pathology, the standardized exam required for certification.

Director of Clinical Education and Assistant Professor Angela Kennedy, SLP-D, CCC-SLP, Assistant Professor Cathy Torrington Eaton, PhD, CCC-SLP, and Casey Taliancich-Klinger, PhD, CCC-SLP, adjunct faculty, presented “Crafting Meaningful Goals: A framework for Clinical Reasoning.” Kennedy was one of three directors of clinical education who presented a two-hour presentation, “Building Clinical Expertise through Feedback: Nurturing Constructive Supervision Connections.”

“My favorite part of TSHA is watching our graduate students in the education sessions and in the exhibit hall and how excited they are to network and explore all that the field of speech-language pathology has to offer,” Kennedy said. “TSHA showcases the importance of staying knowledgeable and current in the field and also emphasizes the importance of professional organization of this nature in the health and vitality of our professional field.”

 Also at the convention, Department Chair and Program Director Fang-Ling Lu, PhD, CCC-SLP, was joined by a group of first-year students to participate in a meet and greet to showcase the master����͵��91 ��ҹ���� program to prospective students.
